There's been so much going on in action sports all season and it's difficult for the internet to encapsulate it all, and virtually impossible for one little chronicler such as myself. Thusly, the evolution of the weekly compilation, although this does not signal total abandonment of single-event coverage! Following and writing about action sports keeps one sane, despite careening into middle age kicking and screaming. So enjoy the ride. Here's a smattering of what went down last week.

Tenth Anniversary of 9/11

Last week was historic as it marked the tenth anniversary of 9/11. Brian Tunney of ESPN provided a different perspective with NYC BMX rider Edwin De la Rosa. De la Rosa related his experiences and how changes in daily living and the loss of riding spots in NYC after 9/11 had a tangible affect on riders, as well as the overall loss of life and the impact of such a catastrophic tragedy. Accessibility to areas below 14th Street in Manhattan was limited to only residents who could show documentation, and heavily-frequented spots were closed, such as the Brooklyn Banks. In addition to the loss of life, all the riding spots at the World Trade Center and adjacent areas were destroyed.

The skateboarding at the Dew Tour was also a World Cup Skateboarding event, with riders earning WCS points toward their rankings.
